A Game which lost it's 'spirit' in recent days..!

This morning I was just going through some of my collections, in my last trip to UP, I had been to couple of places in Amethi and Rae Bareli districts, it was amazing to see that there were two kids playing cricket at a residential area, they used the space in front of some shopping blocks.

For a moment I enjoyed watching them, they were only two and were turning themselves as batsman and a bowler as they left with no choice. There were no restrictions of the game, no power play, no umpire and the best part is there was no technology in the game yet they were happy.

The most important part in this kids play was ‘no betting’. Just recollect the instances of those who excelled in ‘betting’ while started their passion and dream to become a ‘world class cricketer’.

Friends, cricket or any other sport is a simple activity and one should enjoy like these kids, I again recollect a quote by a famous film director in one of the TV shows, it goes.. “Don’t be so attached to the result while you perform. Surrender yourself while performing”.

  1. I agree that now a days technology and marketing methodologies are spoiling the sport person's true spirit.
As a kid i remember using a wood piece/card board or just anything that is straight and flat will become a cricket bat. Any ball plastic/rubber/paper will be our leather ball.
But now a days even a kid demands for brand name over a bat.
