The place where I found 'tradition' again and again, The Indian Coffee House
Finding a restaurant in unfamiliar places
is like finding an oasis in a desert.
I had visited Alleppey many times but was
searching for a nice restaurant and missed out my very favorite ‘Indian Coffee
House’. This is my fourth visit to alleppey, I didn’t find in last three visits
but yesterday I did. It happened suddenly, the restaurant is located in a busy
circle and its just opposite to one of our training centers, where I was
supposed to go.
I entered in the restaurant and
without looking out for the menu, I ordered Dosa, the unique experience of
having dosa with a combination of a single vada (I had similar experience in
Trivandrum) was served by a nice waiter with a humble smile. I couldn’t stop my
temptation to order for a coffee.
For the next two days I visited almost six times, sparing time for my tea breaks to spend in the coffee house
and the large meals.
I was curious to know the history of this
restaurant, and made myself to discover the history of Indian Coffee House. I found an interesting article.
I am touched with the last paragraph of
the article, it goes;
Since the inception of Indian Coffee
House, 44 years have passed. Of course, Kochi has undergone a sea – change. Many
who were once regulars to ICH have become ministers, chief ministers, super
starts, writers, legal experts and social heroes. But the ICH continues to be
the same. The same old coffee. The same old tradition. And of course, the same
old smiling, turbaned waiters.
Hope you enjoyed reading.
