The People I met - July 26, 2011

Tension deneka magar leneka nai, in a typical hyderabadi accent he expresses and believes in such living style.

I was just curious to know about him and for how long he has been in this profession. He remembered the coincidences of his life, he started driving taxi since 1986 when the movie pyaar kiya hai pyaar karenge got released. He also remembered one of the famous songs from that movie. Since then he is enjoying his life being a taxi driver.

Maqbool, 41, a jolly type person lives in Golkonda, Hyderabad. He fulfilled his responsibilities of settling the lives of his siblings as he believed his responsibility to fulfil.  Now, he is leading a happy life with his wife and four kids.

For him life is something which is very small and should be lived without any tensions. Being a taxi driver for the past 25 years he says, “I always tried to live life in a simpler way, which delights me a lot, one of my living policies is not to be angry for simple things.”

One of his remembrances was a song from Roti Kapada aur Makaan, “Pahale Mutthee Me Paise Lekar Thaili Bhar Shakkar Late The Ab Thaili Me Paise Dete Hain Mutthee Me Shakkar Aatee Hai
Hay Mehnagaayee Mehnagaayee” (There were days when we paid fist full of money to buy a bag of sugar not a bag full of money we only get a fist full of sugar, dearness hey dearness). A metaphor used in a Bollywood  song.

While he was talking to me I noticed that he was talking in simple English with good diction, I was amazed when I came to know about his background, he hardly spent time in schooling. For him life taught so many things, he says that in life the best thing one can do is to learning new things, he enjoys learning new things. It would be a little challenging for a typical Hyderabadi in Old City to speak in Telugu, it was glad to know when he shared that he is learning Telugu.

The World is Primitive..!

On 23rd of June'11 morning, I was watching a program in TLC, the program was covered on life style of one of the tribal groups somewhere in African continent, they seem primitive in their nature and habits but have a great culture. As the TV show covering this program, the presenter who was covering this program has spent few days to understand the life style of the tribals, at the end of the program, while he supposed to leave them, he posed a question to the chief of the tribal group. "What am I suppose to do when I go back to my life again, to be happy and successful" The translator helped him while the chief answered, "You should respect people, your own people, your parents, that is the real meaning of the happiness and success" This is a statement made by a tribal chief, who has little or almost no access to the external world but has a great wisdom. The place where I found 'tradition' again and again, The Indian Coffee House

Finding a restaurant in unfamiliar places is like finding an oasis in a desert. I had visited Alleppey many times but was searching for a nice restaurant and missed out my very favorite ‘Indian Coffee House’. This is my fourth visit to alleppey, I didn’t find in last three visits but yesterday I did. It happened suddenly, the restaurant is located in a busy circle and its just opposite to one of our training centers, where I was supposed to go. I entered in the restaurant and without looking out for the menu, I ordered Dosa, the unique experience of having dosa with a combination of a single vada (I had similar experience in Trivandrum) was served by a nice waiter with a humble smile.
